Welcome
to the Kansas
City Torah
Connection!
Yeshua
had 12 apostles.
Peter
and Andrew were
fishermen. James
and John, the
"sons of
thunder," were
sons of Zebedee.
They, too, were
fisherman. James
and John were
possibly related
to the high
priest, through
Salome, their
mother. Matthew
was of a highly
despised class
being a tax
collector.
Phillip and
Nathanael appear
to have been
scholars. There
was another
James, son of
Alpheus, and
also Thaddeus.
There was
Thomas, the
doubter. The
other Simon was
a zealot (a
rebel if you
will). And
finally, there
was Judas, in
Hebrew--Judah--who
was the one who
betrayed. What
does all of this
mean? You would
think that if
Yeshua was going
to put together
a ministry team,
he would have
put together a
team of like
minded, Torah
observant,
well-to-do Jewish
scholars to walk
into the Temple,
declaring with
the appropriate
proofs that He
was in fact the
Jewish Messiah.
Instead, He
chose 12
misfits, men
prone to
depression,
greed,
arrogance,
betrayal,
self-promotion,
and all other
sorts of ungodly
characteristics.
With these men,
he established a
movement that
changed the
world.
The Kansas City
Torah Connection
is not a place,
an organization,
or even a
unified type of
denomination.
You will not
find a
clearinghouse of
consistent
teachings that
agree with each
other. There is
no codified set
of statements
that comprise
what we believe.
What you will
find is a debate
that shows many
of our efforts
and struggles
with our
proclamation of
Yeshua the
Messiah, the
King of Israel.
We are less
concerned with
what people
believe. Our
beliefs do not
seem to unify us. We disagree
with lots of
people, and most
often, we
disagree with
even ourselves.
Individuals
often do not
agree with
himself or
herself. No, we
are unified by
WHAT WE DO. Our
good deeds, our
"mitzvot" bind
us together as
we help each
other and learn
to love each
other, even as
we learn to love
our enemies. It
is not our
BELIEF in the
proclamation of
Yeshua as
described in
Torah that
unites us. It is
our LIVING OUT
of Torah in the
manner of Yeshua
the Messiah.
Much like the 12
apostles were
not unified on
their own, but
were unified in
Yeshua, so too
are our small
groups
throughout the
Kansas City area
unified. We are
not the same,
but we have the
same God. Our
individual works
and ministries
are not the
same, but we
stand together
in obeying our
King.
Our purpose is
fulfill two
great
commandments: To
love the Adonai
our G-d with all
of our hearts,
minds, and
strength. And
also, to love
our neighbors as
ourselves. This
is the main
motivation for
this web site
and for many of
these groups. If
you are a small
group leader or
congregational
leader and would

A Quote
from Rambam: "In
talks about
Torah or other
works of the
wise, brevity
should prevail
and context
should dominate.
This is what our
sages meant in
their message:
'A Teacher must
choose to limit
the length of
his lesson.
When there is an
abundance of
words and a
dearth of
content, there
is abject
stupidity.'"
